I just love it! October 18, 2008 I've not done the dance-workout dvd's long, and now, I have fallen in love with them! I have almost the whole Island Girl series! This was the most recent one that I purchased and I like this one the best. The moves she teaches you, you probibly will never do in a club but I think it's fun anyway:) In this w/o you are moving your hips almost the entire time so it works out those 'love handles'! My sister and I agree that this one is harder (aerobically b/c it's a quicker pace) but the dance moves are easier to learn. The only one that I can't master yet is the umi that is x10 the speed of all the other dvd's. Kili says in the intro not to worry about it, eventually you'll be up to speed:) In all the dvd's there is an intro, play feature, scene selection, bonus features, audio features, and credits. Within the bonus features there are the bonus proformance, play w/o with music only (no comentary), and trailers of her other w/o dvd's.
Don't go into this thinking you'll learn an authentic hula dance. All of the Island Girl w/o's are all primarily w/o dvd's using hula moves/steps.
Left Handed/Bodied January 22, 2008 This is a fun workout with some moves that look impressive but actually aren't complicated once they're broken down. The only thing I don't like about this rouine/DVD is that there's a move that you do with your profile facing the front, and it's done in the same direction every time, so you only end up exercising one side of your body every time. Maybe I'm obsessing and some of us don't mind developing/training one side of the body more than the other, esp. if you play tennis, but I like my dance routines to be balanced, left and right.
Hip hop? October 27, 2007 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this DVD because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about...and yes, Kili is a bit un-Hawaiian as far as authentic Hawaiian dance, but she is a good dancer. And take out the hoochy-koochy, pole-dancing and it would bring honor to a culture that has fought so hard to keep this type of influence out. If you already know tahitian dance, you can do that, and this can be a good wook out...but if you don't, you are learning a style of tahitian dance that is offensive to the culture that it comes from. So, with that said, because I dance tahitian, I enjoy the workout! And as far as the dancers are concerned...they know how to dance, they just add a bit of "nasty" that isn't part of the culture. Take it out and you will be fine!
I love this video July 3, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first it didn't feel like a work out...When I continued to do it I began to see the results.
Won't make you sweat June 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been using KILI's video's for years. This was not my favorite. Not hard enough, not enough of a work out to make you sweat. Fun but just not really for getting in shape.
