5 out of 5 stars Very good read....must read Who's Your Caddy first.   July 7, 2008
I read this on vacation right after I read Who's Your Caddy. Very enjoyable. I read it in one day...long flight layover...and I normally do not read as much as I'd like. I really enjoyed this book!

5 out of 5 stars Reilly in Fine Form   January 14, 2008
Reilly has done it again with a fantactic and clever book. It's designed to be a sequel to Missing Links but can be read as a stand-alone just as well. Keep in mind that Rick Reilly is a 10-time national sportswriter of the year award winner so the guy knows how to write.

The book is funny. It's jam-packed with enough one-liners to keep you on your toes and Reilly lays out the story better than anyone. If you're a good golfer then you'll appreciate Reilly's expertise, if you're a hack then you'll identify with characters in the story as I did, and if you're not a golfer then you'll appreciate the great story line.

This isn't a typical golf novel where the writer dwells on what happens on each hole. It's a story. It's a darn good one. You'll laugh, you'll probably identify with one of the characters or know someone who does, you'll appreciate the relationship aspect of the novel and you'll close the book with a smile on your face.

Rick Reilly is just too funny for words, he creates so many images that will last forever in my mind. The characters in this novel are wonderful and the mix of personalities is perfect. A must read for anyone that loves to laugh out loud and especially if you love the game of golf like I do, read it.

3 out of 5 stars A "Missing Links" Sequel that's missing...   September 23, 2007

Shanks for Nothing follows the author's fantastic comedy "The Missing Links." While Missing Links was terrific, this book was a tired sequel. Material felt "warmed over" from the prior book. The story was amusing in many parts and moved along nicely. I also found it a little far fetched in some areas (sneaking on plane by distracting board gate attendant). If you are a golfer and looking to kill a few hours and don't want to stretch your mind and get a few kicks, this book is for you.

4 out of 5 stars Funny Golf Book   August 23, 2007

A really fun and funny book, especially if you're a golfer/golf fan. Reilly is very witty, and his books are page turners.
