Product Description A collection of stories, advice, and self-deprecating wit from former first lady and current "first mom" Barbara Bush.
The wife of one president, the mother of another, and a direct descendant of our fourteenth president, Franklin Pierce, Barbara Bush has lived a life immersed in the world of politics.
Yet she has captured the hearts of the American people by remaining down-to-earth, genuine, and by demonstrating a remarkable ability to poke fun at herself and the trappings of high office.
Over the years Barbara Bush's wit and wisdom have amused, enlightened, and touched even the most jaded among us-Republicans and Democrats alike.
With a mix of recollections from a political life, grandmotherly advice, and charming humor-on speaking to the National Association of Plastic Surgeons: "I was scared to death. I thought they were going to rush the stage!"-First Mom demonstrates why the nation first fell in love with Barbara Bush, and why we continue to adore her today.
The book also includes a special-edition DVD of the A&E Biography "Barbara Bush: First Mom," which brings some of these delightful quotes and stories to life.

Make Me Vomit April 24, 2006 11 out of 25 found this review helpful
So it's her fault 'eh? That she raised a child with zero morals, zero ethics, and zero brains. I would not brag about it. And from what she has said in the press, she lacks true humor, compassion, and sympathy. Her son's job should be outsourced to India. The title alone makes me want to throw up.
Nit Wit is more accurate January 26, 2006 13 out of 33 found this review helpful
Anyone who has heard or read her shameful remarks at the Houston Astrodome after hurricane Katrina already has a pretty good idea of the "wisdom" of this lame brain.
If we can judge by the apples that have fallen from this tree, she would be better off applying an additional dose of fertilizer to herself than trying to foist this manure on innocent readers.
stories Tugboat Babs tells the girls November 4, 2005 5 out of 17 found this review helpful
It is fairly amazing to realize that Barbara Bush is related to three of our four worst presidents -- her husband, her spawn, and the drunk slavery fan Franklin Pierce. You can see elements of all of them in Babs and these agreeably filthy stories with amuse all but the most prudish readers.
Descendent of Franklin Pierce?? October 13, 2004 6 out of 31 found this review helpful
How could Barbara Bush be a descendent of Franklin Pierce? Didn't all of his children die before reaching childbearing age?
